Could you be our new Rector?

The majestic Mission Mountains provide an impressive backdrop for Flathead Lake.

Our small, vibrant community is ready to welcome a new rector.

Our beautiful corner of creation

St. Andrew's Episcopal Church in Polson is a warm, inviting community nestled into the southern shore of Flathead Lake in northwestern Montana.

Our region is known for its beauty, wildlife, scenic wonders, and quality of life. Polson reflects the state's reputation as being:

"The Last Best Place."

Glacier National Park, one of our country's magnificent wonders, is an easy two-hour drive. There are many examples of God's handiwork everywhere in the Park.

Polson, like many communities around Flathead Lake, can feel at times like a resort community. In the glorious days of summer, our gardens flourish in the long hours of sunshine, just as the population blooms with the return of snowbirds and visitors. We relish these long, perfect days of abundant opportunity for play.

As the sun heads South again, and winter returns, the town gets quieter and then new recreational opportunities are available. Wintertime ushers in ski season (both Alpine and Nordic), ice-skating, ice fishing, hunting, snowshoeing, and snowmobiling. Hit the slopes with skis or snowboards. Both Whitefish Mountain and Blacktail Resort are within easy driving distance.

Polson is located on the Flathead Indian Reservation, home to the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes. The Tribes host Pow Wows, rodeos, and other events that reflect their culture.   The Salish Kootenai College, a four-year accredited college, hosts students from over 60 different tribes as well as non-tribal students.

Our community and ministry

We are a congregation that loves to welcome and grow with new members, to reflect the transformation of the broader Polson community, which finds itself amid population growth.

The church and many of our members contribute to and are active in local service organizations such as Polson Loaves and Fishes, the Country Store, and Helping Hands.

·        Polson Loaves and Fishes receives donations of food and distributes it to those in need.

·        The Country Store receives donations of second-hand clothing, household goods, and other merchandise and sells them.

·        Helping Hands provides emergency assistance to individuals and families.

CAMP MARSHALL

Camp Marshall, owned and operated by the Episcopal Diocese of Montana, is just a 15-minute jaunt from Polson (a bit longer if you go by boat). This jewel in the diocesan crown is located on 26 acres of beautiful Flathead Lake shoreline and hosts youth, family, and clergy retreat camps. As St. Andrew's is the closest church to Camp Marshall, we supply much labor and love to our Camp.

Come play with us!

Water Sports, Fishing, Hiking, Camping, Biking, Golf, Tennis, and Pickle Ball are some of our favorite summer pastimes.  With more than 128 miles of shoreline, roughly 28 miles long and 15 miles wide, Flathead Lake is the largest natural freshwater lake west of the Mississippi. There are numerous options for fishing, fly fishing and white water rafting.

Check out the Rodeos, the Cherry Festival, Art in the Park, and numerous other local art shows and museums. Kerr Dam (higher than Niagara Falls) located at the south end of Flathead Lake in Polson is a must-see and a magnificent site when all floodgates are open. Find a new favorite brew at one of the area's breweries, distilleries, and wineries. Don't forget to enjoy the famous Flathead sweet cherries and huckleberries.  Art and music festivals are also widely available.

Yellow Canola Fields

We are fortunate enough to have Glacier National Park, one of our country's magnificent wonders, an easy two-hour drive from Polson.  There are many examples of God's handiwork everywhere in the Park.
